Final Entry
With 13 entries we have composed, we would like to introduce our thesis that the internet will definitely change the nature of human interaction in both business context and personal context, favorably and unfavorably. We have focused, respectively, on four main foci of our Information System class: What, Why, How, and Who that the internet may affect within the domain of human interaction. The internet, in the future, can be empowered with many new tools for better collaboration, communication, relationship maintenance, job, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
One take-away for our reader is that we want all of you to look around and find opportunities to improve your life with the aid of existing internet-based services. When newly-invented internet-based technologies will be limited in amount in the future, we will need to start to manipulate the existing internet-based technologies to innovate the traditional ways of living and working. It is very similar the current trend of using service-oriented architecture in building an information system (a software design perspective focused on reusability of software component). We expect that the internet can definitely help everyone to do business and maintain relationships in agile and flexible ways.
If we can keep out blog project going forward, we will continue to use our entries on the How (i.e., Team Work on the Internet, Trend-setting in a Virtual Society, Virtual Workplace) as the foundation to build creative internet-based applications on areas that currently involve little or no use of the internet. For example, we would like to use technologies mentioned in our Virtual Workplace entry to blog about how the conference services industry can change its traditional ways of organizing meetings, or how the hotel industry can change its way to advertise with 3D and touch-screen technology.
During a semester-long of blogging, we, Jade and Terence, have learnt to collaborate in by both way: face-to-face conversation and using wiggio.com to share our ideas and remind tasks. We
have learnt to divide work fairly and to finish our task well before time. We learnt simple blogging designs such as theme, display-width adjustability, and illustration (indeed finding videos and pictures is fun!). Moreover, we are enjoying the fact that we are more attentive and getting to think critically about current changes enforced by the internet. The biggest change we have made to improve our entries is that we begin to be more visionary with simple yet practical ideas, instead of mere demonstrating and scrutinizing current IT trends. Our entries have become more better-balanced between demonstration and analysis of ideas, yet still allow readers to comprehend easily. Finally, we want to say that once we have an interesting idea, blogging is simple and fun!
